Dear Friends,
Greetings, believe it or not, from Mitchell, Manitoba, Canada.
We are at the end of a two and a half week stay with Anne Marie's family. We had hoped to get an update out before we left Mexico, but as I had just
returned from the mountains, I wasn't able to get one ready before we left. Up until now we haven't been able to get connected here, so we have been a bit out of touch.
The purpose of our trip north has been to visit family and relatives, most of whom we haven't seen for two and a half years. We were also able to book our truck into Anne Marie's uncle's mechanic shop for some needed repairs and checks. The major job was to have the fuel pump replaced which, due to dirty fuel, had been making a loud noise for some time. There were various other repairs in and around the truck which included new tie rods, brake pads, and assorted bushings here and there. With a new set of tires our truck is fit and ready for Lajas once again.
We've been having a good time with family and friends. Our kids have had a great time with their grandpa, uncle, and aunt, and enjoyed getting reacquainted with lots of second cousins. Last Saturday was spent picnicking at Moose Lake and had a great time wake boarding and tubing behind a boat. Anne Marie has a large extended family and so the visiting schedule has been full. Joseph enjoyed going to a minor league baseball game with his grandpa and having his hat autographed by the players.
Friday morning we head back to Mexico. It takes 3 days driving 12 hours a day to get back to El Paso. We have some supplies we need to buy, including some things for the house in Lajas, before we head across the border into Mexico. This trip has been a good break and a relaxing time as a family before moving into Lajas. Once we are back in Durango we will be getting ready to make a trip out to Lajas with some other missionaries to pour the floor in our house. With the latest happenings in the middle east and with all the turmoil in the world, the return of Christ is even more imminent. Time is short and the Tepehuan are still without the Gospel.
We would value your prayers for safety as we return to Mexico. We praise the Lord for the great time we have been able to spend in Canada and also that we have been able to get our vehicle repaired. Pray for the Tepehuan that their hearts would be turned towards the truth as they begin to see the lies and deception within their own lives. Pray as we continue to learn their language in the midst of building and moving in.
For Jesus,
Andrew and Anne Marie.
P.S. Due to continuing problems with my emailing, I haven't been able to send out this email till now. We have safely made it to El Paso and will head into Mexico soon.
